Dialogue no 3
A Dialogue between two people, not knowing each other

On Sunday afternoon a person calls one of the emergency operatorsby dialling 112,
to get a piece of advice, when not feeling well. The operator recommends a visit at
the hospitals’ emergency room, the so called E.R., for consulting, where the following
dialogue takesplace between a doctor and his patient:
The patient: “Good afternoon! I’m glad you’re taking your time tolook at me, because I don’t feel very well. I’ve no ideawhat’s the matter with me."
The doctor: “Good afternoon! As a matter of fact I’ve finished offthe meeting with the former patient, that’s why I'vemanaged to visit you within soon. Now, tell me, what's wrongwith you?”
The patient:“Yesterday, I went to the West Coast together with my boyfriend. We just intended to go to the South end of theKoster Island andback during the day, as I suddenlybegan to feel ill.”
The doctor: “That sounds to be a very nice trip, but what happened?”
The patient: “Already, early in the morning, when starting the trip by car toStrömstad I felt very frozen and had got headache. Arrivingin Strömstad we took the ferry to the South endof the KosterIsland. It was a hot and sunny day. Even on board at the ferry I felt frozen, which I thought depended on the wind blowing. I love to take a swimin the salt waterat the West Coast even if there are some jelly-fishes,so the first thing I did entering the beach was to go for a swim. Inthe cold salted water I was seized with cramp, what made me interruptswimming around. The water was cold, which it usually is at the Southend of the Koster Island. We had brought some sandwiches and svacuum jug with coffee. As I started to feel sick, I didn'tparticipate the picnic. It was a wonderful sunny day andI went for another swim. At about four o’clock in theafternoon, we took the ferry back to Strömstad, wherewe had the car at a parking lot. At the ferry my body startedto freeze still more. I was almost shaking. As soon as theferry arrived in Strömstad we started the journey back toKarlstad. The driver had to put on the heat in the car cabin,as I was shivering so much. I felt like having high fever. However, there had arisen another problem, because nextday at eleven o’clock a.m. I was supposed to participate ina golf competition at Kils’ Golf Court. I felt pity for my boy-friend should sustain playing golf because of me not feelingwell. Anyway, I recommendet him to go.tAwaking this morning I still had got fever in my body, more than +40 degrees, why I immediately had a coupleof antipyretics. When my friend went back this afternoon,I still had very high fever, despite the antipyretics. Then,I felt somewhat anxious about my condition. That’s whyI called the emergency operator for a piece of advice. The nurse wanted me to visit the E.R., the Emergency Roomat the hospital and here I’m. Look, I’ve also got a discolouredpot on my left leg."The doctor: “For your information, I’ve got the result of the blood test, taken by the nurse, which indicates some sort of infection, but there is a problem. We don’t know what kind of infectionit is. You see, working at the hospital’s E.R. is very alikeworking as Sherlock Holmes, being a detective. Would youplease tell me what you’ve been up to these days beforegoing to Strömstad?”The patient: “Yes of course, on Thursday evening my friend and I wentto Grums’ Old Homestead Museum, where they had anentertainment in a barn. You see, the father of a school-mateof mine has given the Homestead Museum to the church andto the community. It’s driven as a non-profit-making associationand I was a member of the board. Afterwards, when people wentfor coffee-time that evening, I was assisting bringing chairs outof the barn. It was dark and dirty inside the barn. On Fridaymorning I went as usual to work.”
The doctor: “Would you please take off your trousers, enabling me to havea look at the discoloured spot on your left leg! Have you gotsome insect-bite on your body?”
The patient: “No, not that I’m aware of. Before going to the hospitals’ E.R.I carefully checked the body to eliminate tick-bites, but Icouldn’t find any.”
The doctor: “Let me examine your body! Please raise your left leg anothertime! Ah, there it is! Here on you left leg you’ve got a red mark.I’ll take a test and send it away to the laboratory for an analysis. Now, I’ve got a slight idea, what it might be, but I’ll wait for theanswer of the analysis before making a diagnosis. You see, it’s no good to give you penicillin, when not knowingexactly what kind of penicillin is going to work your case. Now,we’ll have to wait a day or two, before we’ve got the answer ofthe analysis. Until then, I keep you at the hospital and prescribesome antipyretic and discharge fluid. I just want you to be patient!”

Dear readers, now I’d like you to guess and answer the five questions below:
No 1: “Who are the actors in this dialogue?”
No 2: “What’s the reason, why this person contacts the emergency operator?”
No 3: “What occurred to this person before contacting the E.R.?”
No 4: “How did it happen?”
No 5: “When did it actually happen?”July 13, 2008, Nilla

Dialogue no 1 and 2

A Visit at the Sibyl’s Desk

Last week I went on vacation to Strömstad, which is a small town
on the Swedish West Coast. Sometimes going on holiday I use to
look for activities and so I did last Saturday, as there was no
weather for the beach. Approaching Strömstad by car, I’d recognized
an advertising poster about a Medical Health Fair taking place on
July 5 and 6, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. and 18:00 p.m. It seemed exciting
visiting the fair. I parked the car on the parking lot just outside
the entrance of the upper secondary school, where it was taking place.
At the entrance I asked the woman: “How much is it?” She answered:
“The entry is Swedish Crowns 100,-. I paid for the entrance and
stepped inside the premises.

I was lucky visiting the fair on Saturday, because there was a
running race in the city core, which was the reason, why there wasn’t
so many people attending the fair. It was very hot inside the premises,
but the atmosphere was calm. I was very interested in what they had
to offer, so I went around somewhat amused and curious having a look
and there she was. I recognized the woman’s face at once. The woman
was sitting in front of a desk offering her services, telling you about your
future and back-ground. Attending the Medical Health Fair last year
I’d visited her. Her name is Tina Taylor a professional medium. What
story was she going to tell me this time, the same or another one? The
sibyl glanced at me as if she recognized me. There was a great many
Norwegian people queuing up in front of her desk, eagerly to hear her
story-telling. I’d to put my name on a list to stipulate visiting-time.
At last it showed to be my turn. I paid Swedish Crowns 100, - for a
ten minute visit. During my visit at Tina’s desk, the sibyl’s desk, the
following dialogue was held:

The sibyl: “Instinctively, I think I know you. Have you been
visiting me before?”
I: “Yes, as a matter of fact I’ve and now I’m curious
about what story you’re going to tell me this time."
The sibyl: “How nice seeing you again. Would you please hold out
your hands and put them into mine. I'll tell you more
about your future as well as back-groung."
At the same time she closes her eyes being quite for
a long time before starting to speak again.
“As you see, I’ve got some Tarok-cards at the desk
in front of me. Now I’d like you to point out two of
them.”
I: “Yes, I choose the Tarok-card to the extreme left
and the other one to the extreme right.
The sibyl: “Historically, the Tarok-cards tell me, that in 1646
you were a woman clergyman at the profession,
who sentenced a lot of people to death for witchcraft.
People were burnt at the stake, even if there just was
a mere trifle, as for example a beautiful girl having a
small birth-mark at her left hip, which was to be
considered as a symbol for being a witch. At that time
people, was condemned even if being innocent. The
with-trial was often being started by envying and
questioning people. Then it was fulfilled by the priest
condemning the poor creature to death for witchery."

“Further, at the sixteenth century you entered a
monastery. Taking the vows you executed some really
good needlework, when giving aid to refugees. You did
a nice job very alike Mother Theresa’s and was well-
known for it.”

“In the end of the seventeenth century you were
working as a schoolteacher helping children to read
and write. As a teacher you were very popular among
the children, who loved you very much.”
I: “I see, that according to my back-ground I’ve been up
to a great deal of different thrilling roles. I find it an
awkward situation during the witchery having been
such a cruel person. You see, I like people very much,
being an emotional person. It was a sad story you’re
telling me. However, at that time it was different
as people weren’t as informed as they are today.”
The sibyl: “No, you’re quite right. At that time, there was a lot
of cruelty. How is your situation today? I see, that
you’ve got a lot of people around you at work. What
are you doing at work? Are you married?”
I: “I’m permanently employed at Telia handling claims.
I’m neither married or living together with somebody,
but I’ve got a friend.”
The sibyl: “Yes, the cards tell me, that you’re living separately,
but within soon he’ll ask you to marry him. At work
you’ve got contact with a lot of people helping them
with their problems. At Telia you’re working very hard
climbing up the stairs. Also, I see, that you’re under
stress at work. That’s why I’d like you to visit the
healer’s desk. Carl-Arne Nilsson, at the neighbour’s
desk, is a healer holding a diploma. He’ll give you a
piece of good advice getting rid of stress.”
I: “Thanks for holding your time. Is it O.K. if I continue
visiting Carl-Arne’s, the healer’s desk?”
The sibyl: “Thank you and hoping to see you next year!”
I: “Good buy!”
The healer:“Hello, how are you?”
I: “I’m fine thank you, but sometimes I’m feeling a
little under stress.”
The healer:“Yes, I feel you’re in a state under strain. I’ll help
you get rid of it.”
I: “That’s fine!”
The healer:“Now I’d like you to close your eyes and just relax
for some minutes. I’m going to put my hands on your
shoulders enabling you to feel the heat streaming
out of my hands. As you’ve got a very busy job, I’d
like you to take at least ten minutes of your time each
day for meditation. It will help you not being over-
strained at work.”
I: “I wonder how do I do meditating in a correct way
to achieve utmost relax?”
The healer:“You switch off the light, lightening a candle, putting
on soft music, while thinking about nothing at all for
about ten minutes per day. Just try to empty your
mind completely.”
I: “Thanks for instructing me how to handle and solve
the stress problem.”
The healer: “I’m now going to give you a hug wishing you good
luck with the meditation.”
I: “How much for your consulting time?”
The healer: “Swedish Crowns 100, - will do.”
I: “Thanks for keeping your time.”
The healer: “Good buy, hoping to see you next summer.”
I: “Good buy!”
